Tips to Make Website Mobile Friendly

In today’s world, people are spending more time on their smartphones to use Internet rather than on desktops. Smartphones are emerging as a platform of more potential for marketing online, which means Content Marketers have to focus more on creating their strategies adaptable to mobile phones.

In this context, Google released mobile-friendly update that started rolling from 21st Apr. It is also called “Mobilegeddon”, “Mobilepocalyse”, “Mobocalypse” or “Mopocalypse”. This update has created a lot of buzz, leading to making websites responsive and providing better user experience on mobiles.

To survive the Mobilegeddon, content marketers need to approach more mobile-friendly content marketing strategies by keeping following points in mind:

Test mobile-friendliness of your website

First things first, test your website for mobile-friendliness. Google itself has provided a very useful tool to test if a website is mobile friendly or not.

If the test is successful, a snippet will show you how Google’s bot handle your pages along with some advice for creating mobile-friendly pages. But if the test is unsuccessful, Google will tell you the reasons of failure and teach you how to make mobile-friendly pages.

Always keep your audience in mind

It’s true that to be in the top of the searches, you need to keep Google happy by following their guidelines. After all, they dominate the mobile searches by more than 80%. But the bitter truth is that, after all your efforts, Google is not going make purchase from you but your customers would. Therefore, you must keep the needs of your customers in your mind and plan content marketing strategies accordingly.

Create catchy headline

Creating a catchy headline is an important task for content marketer; for mobile marketing, it becomes even more critical. Mobile devices give a short space to show what you sell. Therefore you need to be very accurate to make every word count.

Create concise content

Internet users have behavior of ‘scan and search’ while reading any article online. The content looks different on the mobile than desktop, which makes interacting with the content difficult. For this, content on the website must serve mobile and desktop differently.

User can read large paragraphs on desktop but on small screen it becomes tough. Keep the paragraphs short that fit in the screen. This can be done through short sentences or by making list that user’s eye catch at once.

Prominently feature your call to action

Call-to-Action is a vital page element to have in a website. Therefore, making CTA visible and more clickable plays an important role in converting leads. This becomes more challenging when you have to show content as well as CTA on small screen size.

The mobile-friendly update is just a factor of ranking and providing a better user experience to the mobile users. Therefore, it should not be considered as a threat that is going to kill non-mobile-friendly website.
